Zambia e Visa For Tourism
The Zambian e-visa for tourism is a travel document issued to foreign nationals from eligible countries coming to Zambia for holidays, tours, sightseeing, or any other leisure activities. This e-visa is issued as a single-entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry Visa. For the single entry visa, you can only use it once and will have to apply for a new one each time you wish to visit the country. The double entry visa allows you to visit a second time, while the multiple entry visa allows you to visit as often as you want as long as your Visa is valid.
This Visa is valid for 90 days after issue, so you should use it before it expires, and you can stay in Zambia for 3 months. Interestingly, you can also apply for an extension once you are in the country. Application for an extension should be submitted to the Department of Immigration. The application is free, and you can apply for 90-day extensions twice.

The e-visa is valid for 90 days after it is released to the traveler.

Zambia e Visa For Business
The Business e Visa is for business visitors attending meetings or conferences or pursuing their business interests in the country. If you are a one-off visitor that will not be visiting any time after your next visit, a single entry visa will suffice; for a return visit, you may opt for a double entry visa rather than apply for a new one soon. However, a multiple-entry visa is your best option if you are a frequent visitor. Business visas allow you to stay in the country for up to 90 days, but you can extend it twice for 90 days each.
To get the e-visa, you must provide information about your host and details related to your business activities. It is also important to note that this e-visa should not be mistaken as a work visa, so you are not allowed to engage in any paid employment or work activity that will earn you direct wages.

Transit visitors looking to change flights en route to a third country must obtain a transit visa if they intend to leave the airport before their flight is ready or will remain in Zambian territory for more than 12 hours. This Visa is usually issued as a single-entry visa, but you can apply for a double or multiple-entry visa if you pass through Zambia two or more times. One of the criteria for this Visa is holding a flight ticket for the onward trip to your next destination. Transit e visas have the same features as the other e-visa types.

Zambia Visa Policy
The Zambia Visa policy is influenced by the Immigration and Deportation Act, which regulates the inflow of visitors into the country. According to the Act, foreign nationals require visas to enter Zambia unless they are from visa-exempt countries or eligible for a visa on arrival. There is also an electronic visa program called the e visa which is obtainable online. All visitors coming to Zambia are expected to have passports valid for at least 6 months during their stay. Furthermore, there is a joint visa program called the Universal Visa, a joint initiative of the Zambian and Zimbabwean governments.
Zambia Visa-Free Countries
There are close to 100 countries or territories whose citizens do not need visas to enter Zambia for 90 days as tourists or 30 days as business visitors within a year. The visa free list is ever evolving so before making the decision to travel to Zambia without a visa, consult the list to check for your country. If your nation is absent you need a visa.
The e-Visa Program
Part of Zambia’s visa policy is the e-visa program introduced in late 2014 as an alternative to consular visas issued by Zambian embassies and foreign missions abroad. This e-visa is issued abroad or once the visitor arrives at the airport, and it allows them to stay in Zambia for up to 90 days from the date of their entry. E visas are issued at entry ports and take about three days to process.
To get an e visa you must first complete and submit an online application form along with your travel documents. After the visa is approved it will be forwarded to your email. You must print it out and travel to Zambia where you will exchange it for a physical visa at the entry point.
There is an application fee which must be paid before you can submit your application online. This fee is paid using a credit or debit card.
Also note that e visas are issued in different versions namely the single, double and multiple entry visas. Single entry visas are for one time visitors that will not be visiting Zambia anytime soon while double entry visas are for those who will revisit within a short time after their last visit. As for those who would like to frequent Zambia a few times or more during a calendar year they can go for the multiple entry visa. Kindly note that these visas command different fees.
Zambia e Visa Key Information
Before you submit your application for the e-visa, here are some important tips to imbibe.
Apply Early: It pays to submit your application very early as there may be delays with the processing. The last thing you want is to postpone your trip or cancel due to such an unfortunate occurrence. To be safe, submit your application at least 5 days before your trip.
Use The Same Passport: Always travel with the same passport you applied for the e-visa. E visas are linked to the traveler’s passport, so traveling with a new passport will be tantamount to having no visa. Furthermore, your Visa must have at least 6 months of validity left from the arrival date; otherwise, it will be rejected for the application or the airport.
Respect the Custom: Zambia is a friendly but deeply conservative society like most African countries. During your time in the country, respect their customs and obey the laws.
Honor The Visa Agreement: These e-visas are only valid for 90 days, so endeavor to leave the country before or on the last day. If you must apply for an extension, make sure you do it before your Visa expires, not on the day or after it does.
No employment: E visas are not work visas, so they do not qualify you for work. If you have plans to work in Zambia or have been hired by a company in the country, approach the nearest Zambian embassy or consulate to apply for a work visa.
Cover Letter Format: All cover letters must be addressed to the Director General of the Zambian immigration Service and they must be duly signed by the applicant. The letter must contain important details about the trip such as the purpose, arrival and departure date, the sponsor of the trip, address where they will stay and the places of interest they plan to visit.
Extensions: Visitors are allowed to extend their visas for a few days or weeks but only if they file for extensions by submitting their applications to the immigration office. The letter must explain why the extension is needed and how much time they need. Extensions attract additional application fees payable to the Zambian immigration service.
Travel With A Copy: Always travel with a copy of your e visa because it will be demanded at the entry point and converted into a paper visa. Without a copy of your visa you can't prove that you actually got a visa for the trip and will not be allowed into the country.
