Vietnam Tourist e Visa

The Vietnam tourist visa is categorized under the DL class and is suited for tourists, fun seekers, and persons seeking holidays in the country. This tourist e-visa is similar to the visa issued by the Vietnam embassy, but the difference is that this one is obtained online. Visa applicants can apply for it using their smartphones, and they don’t have to submit physical documents or go through any third-party agent. You can get the e-visa in a few days if you are from an eligible country.

The e-visa allows the holder to stay for 15-90 days and is of different types, which can be extended should you wish to stay for much longer.

Single entry 1-month tourist e visa: The single entry e visa allows you to stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days.

Single entry 3 months tourist e visa: The single entry three months visa allows the holder to stay in Vietnam for up to 90 days.

You should only go for this option if you plan to only visit the country once in a long while. With this visa, you can spend time with friends and family, tour the country, visit fun and historic places, etc. However, you cannot work with this visa, as working with a tourist visa is not allowed.

Multiple entry 1-month tourist e visa: The one-month multiple entry visa allows the holder to visit Vietnam several times in a calendar year. This option is ideal for people who frequently spend their holidays there but can only stay for up to 30 days per visit.

Multiple entries 3 months tourist e visa: The three months e visa is for those who prefer to stay in Vietnam for up to 3 months per visit. Looking to enjoy longer stays in Vietnam? This is the ideal option for you.

Port of Entry

With a tourist e visa, you can enter Vietnam by air, land, or sea. Here are the ports of entry.

International Airports: Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh HOA, Phu Quoc International Airport, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho International Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Noi Bai International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong

Land Border Crossings: Bo Y border, Cha Lo border, Cau Treo border, Cau Treo border, Huu Nghi border, Ha Tien border, Lao Bao border, Lao Cai border, La Lay border, Moc Bai border, Mong Cai border, Nam Can border, Na Meo border, Song Tien border, Tinh Bien border, Tay Trang border, Xa Mat border.

Sea Ports: Chan May Port, Da Nang Port, Duong Dong Port, Hon Gai Port, Hai Phong Port, Nha Trang port, Quy Nhong port, , Vung Tau port, Ho Chi Minh port

Vietnam Business e Visa

The business is designed for business purposes and is the ideal visa for short-term business visitors.

This visa can be issued to individuals, business persons, or representatives of companies or business organizations coming to fulfill an assignment. You may also apply for it to settle estates, buy goods or services, or offer yours to clients or suppliers in Vietnam. However, you can’t use it to work in Vietnam as only a work visa issued by the Vietnam embassy allows foreigners to work.

There are four types of business e visa to Vietnam, namely

Single entry 1-month e-visa: If you hold this one, you can only enter Vietnam once and must complete your assignment and depart the country on or before the 30th day after your arrival.

Single entry 3 months e visa: The single entry three months e visa is designed for longer stays of up to 90 days but can only be used once. After entering Vietnam with it, you can’t use it again.

Multiple entry 1-month e-visa: If you would like to visit Vietnam several times a year at short intervals, it will make no sense to apply for a new single-entry visa all the time as this will cost you more. Instead, you should apply for a multiple-entry visa to visit Vietnam. This one-month multiple-entry visa allows you to enter, exit, and re-enter Vietnam within a month and is best for visitors traveling between Vietnam and neighboring countries on business.

Multiple entry 3 months e visa: This visa also allows you to visit Vietnam multiple times, and it allows you to stay for up to 90 days. This option is ideal if your assignment will require more than a month to conclude.

The multiple-entry e-visa is strictly for business and is not a work visa. The government will sanction persons caught working and earning direct pay in Vietnam. Overstaying your visa is also a violation, so do well to conclude your business so you can depart on or before the visa expires.

    Visa Policy of Vietnam

The visa policy of Vietnam is regulated by the immigration authorities using the updated Immigration Law of Vietnam (2015). This law states that visitors must obtain visas from any of its diplomatic missions abroad before they can enter the country unless they’re from one of the visa-exempt countries or eligible for electronic visas. This is the standard immigration policy of the government of Vietnam. Vietnam foreign missions, embassies, and consulates issue short and long-term visas to visitors, while the online electronic visa option is for short leisure visas.

The country launched its electronic visa program in 2017 as a single entry and multiple entry visa, which allows them to visit and stay for up to 30 days. This option is open to nationals from close to 100 eligible territories and countries in total. Also called an e-visa, holders are expected to abide by the visa conditions and must leave the country on the day or before their visa expires.

E Visas are applied for online using your smartphone or computer and you don't have to submit physical copies of your documents. After filling out the application form and uploading all relevant documents, you must pay the application fee using a credit or debit card before submitting the application for processing. Processing takes only a few days and successful applicants receive their eVisa in the email address they provided.

For persons invited by residents or organizations in Vietnam, they must apply for the visa at the nearest Vietnam embassy in their country rather than for an e-visa. E Visa visitors must hold valid passports outside the country when applying for it.

    Vietnam e Visa Eligibility

Only foreign nationals from selected countries are allowed to apply for electronic visas. Besides your nationality, the purpose of your visit should also be factored in when considering the type of visa to apply for as there are several options.

    Key Information About Vietnam

International Travelers: Persons taking connecting flights from Vietnam to a third country do not need transit visas regardless of their nationality. However, if they wish to leave the airport at any point while waiting for their flight they will need a transit visa. Transit visas should be obtained from a Vietnam foreign mission as e visas do not qualify for such entries.

Approved Routes: Vietnam has several entry routes but only Approved routes are accepted for e visa visitors. If you use an unapproved route you may not be allowed into the country.

Print Out Your Visa: Always travel with a printed copy of your visa as you never know when you will need it. After the visa is forwarded to your inbox, print a copy and bring it on your trip. After showing it to the immigration officers along with other documents, you will be allowed into Vietnam. To be on the safe side, always move around with it whenever you are in public just in case a law officer demands your papers.

Be Sure of Your Needs: There are single and multiple entry visas with different durations so be sure of your itinerary before picking the visa that suits your needs. The last thing you want is to depart early when you have not completed your task in Vietnam.
