The government agents may also request their visa to the next country or a valid resident permit. They may also be asked questions about their intention, but this is not always the case.

Thailand Visa Policy
The visa policy of Thailand mandates most visitors to apply for visas before traveling to the country unless visitors are from visa exempt countries. Visa exempt visitors can stay in Thailand without visas for a limited period of time, but there is also a visa on arrival and e visa program designed for selected nationalities.
Currently, Thailand offers visa free access to nationals from 64 territories and countries, and the Thai government has bilateral agreements with many of these countries.
There is also a special list of 18 countries whose citizens can apply for e visas and visas on arrival.
The visa free visitors to Thailand may stay in the country for up to 90 days in 180 days or 30 or 14 days. Citizens of Myanmar may enter the country via air only while citizens of Cambodia and Hong Kong must hold valid passports, not IDs.
Tourism Only
It is also noteworthy to point out that the visa exemption scheme is strictly for tourism. That is to say that eligible visitors will only be granted visa-free passage into Thailand for tourism. Such visitors can stay in Thailand for 30 days but may apply for an extension of 30 more days. Under special consideration, the extension may be extended from 30 – 45 days for selected nationalities if they can prove why they need their visas extended. Furthermore, visa exempt visitors are entitled to no more than two entries per year when entering by land or sea, but air travelers have no entry limit.
Visa On Arrival/E Visa
The Thai visa on arrival and e visa are programs designed to facilitate trips for foreign nationals. Rather than wait in long queues at Thai embassies to apply for consular visas, eligible visitors can simply apply for a visa once they arrive at approved ports of entry or an electronic visa.
For visa on arrival, the visitor will be provided with an application form at the entry point which they must enter their valid information. After filling out the form they must submit the form along with an application fee. The form will be processed on the spot and the visa issued.
As for the electronic visa, the application form must be filled out and submitted online. Relevant documents must be uploaded in soft copies and the application fee paid with a credit or debit card. The application process takes about 3 working days but no more than that. Once approved, applicants will receive their visas in their email address.
Both visas allow the holder to stay 15 – 30 days per visit. The e visa is designed for air and land travelers but cannot be extended.
Note: Only Chiang Mai, Don Mueang, Phuket, And Suvarnabhumi international airports accept e visa visitors.
Key Information About Thailand e Visa
As you prepare for your online application as well as your trip to Thailand here are some important tips to keep in mind.
You can't apply inside Thailand: You can only apply for an online visa while you are outside Thailand, not while you are still in the country. If you have any need to submit a fresh application, you must exit the country first.
The e Visa cannot be extended: Under the current visa policy of Thailand you cannot extend an e visa while it is still active or expired. Short term visitors are constrained by law to exit the country on the day their visa expires or before then.
Only accepted at approved routes : Visitors coming to Thailand on electronic visas are allowed into the country through approved routes. Should you attempt to enter through an undesignated route you may not be allowed into Thailand. If you plan to travel by land, confirm the approved checkpoints before embarking on the trip.
The Visa Fee is Non Refundable: Bear in mind that Thailand visa fees are not refundable after they are paid and your application submitted. Also, ensure that your documents are in order and that you are eligible for the visa as the fee is not a guarantee that you will get the visa. It is strictly for application processing.
Don't Stay Back on An Expired Visa: If your visa is about to expire, expedite your activity and leave the country on the day it expires or before then. Persons caught living in the country with an expired visa will be fined and may be banned from visiting again.
Approved Carriers: If you are a transit visitor make sure you only book with an approved carrier. As your booking agent to look for eligible carriers from your take off point.
