Belarus Visa Policy
Under the current visa policy of Belarus, anybody who wishes to enter the country must possess a visa unless they are from any of the visa-exempt countries. Visas are issued to applicants through Belorussian foreign missions and online. While applicants going through a foreign mission must submit their application several weeks in advance, online applicants can submit their application a few days in advance and get the visa once they arrive in Minsk.
Visa Free Access is offered to citizens from more than a few nations depending on the bilateral and multilateral agreements in place. You don't need to show a visa at the entry point if you qualify for the visa waiver program. You only need to show your valid passport at the entry point along with a few other documents, and you are good to go.
Then there is the Foreign Admissions Division with an office at Minsk International Airport which issues visas on arrival to eligible visitors. To get a visa on arrival, the visitor must have submitted their application at least three days prior. In the case of a serious illness or death of a relative, the Directorate accepts applications at the entry point provided the applicant can show supportive documents to back their claims.
All applications attract application fees, but the fees for applications submitted at the entry point are much higher than those charged at the consulate.
Belarus e Visa
Belarus has an e-visa program for short-term visitors who are eligible based on their nationality and are coming for nonwork or study-related visits. The visa is available online, and applicants only need to fill out and submit theirs online at least three days before they arrive in Belarus. It is similar to the visa on arrival since the actual visa will be issued to the visitor once they arrive in Belarus. E visas are issued as short and long-term visas and applications.
For visitors invited by a host, their invitation letter should be forwarded to the office of the Foreign Admissions Division of the Belorussian Ministry of foreign affairs with all the required documents for approval. E visas are valid for 90 days, so holders must leave the country on or before the last day their visa Permits them. Failure to do so will lead to detention and even prison time.
Key Information About Belarus e Visa
There are important details about the Belorussian online visa you should know about, and we review some of them below so you are always confident about what is required for your trip and how to conduct yourself.
You Must Be Eligible: First and foremost, you should know that this e-visa is not for everyone. It is only issued to persons who are citizens of eligible countries. Before you apply, check to see if your country is on the list; if you still need to submit an application to a foreign mission office.
Visa Is Not Extendable: This e visa cannot be extended. It is valid for just 90 days starting from the day it is issued. If you don't use it and it expires, you must apply for another one; if you are in Belarus, but you wish to stay for much longer, you must exit the country and apply for a new visa.
You Must Pay The Application Fee: The application fee is compulsory and must be paid before you can submit the application form. This fee is payable with a credit or debit card online, and it is not refundable.
Overstaying Is A Crime: Belarus has tough immigration laws, and offenders are heavily sanctioned. If you overstay beyond your visa and are caught, you may face prison. It is not uncommon to find foreigners getting arrested on their way out of the country for staying on an expired visa. Make sure you plan your itinerary carefully and leave the country on time.
