    Peru Visa Policy

Most visitors wishing to enter Peru must apply for a visa and get it before arrival. Only visitors from visa-exempt countries can enter Peru without visas. Currently, there are more than 100 countries whose citizens can visit Peru without visas and stay for up to 180 days. Citizens from Schengen countries can visit and stay in Peru for up to 90 days within a 180 days period without a visa. Peru also offers visa-free access to holders of service, diplomatic and official passports from most countries, excluding Venezuela.

Peru also has a business entry document called APEC Business Travel Card. This card is issued to persons who wish to visit for business and are allowed into the country without needing to apply for visas for 90 days trips.

    Peru Special Exemptions

The Peruvian authorities recognize visas issued by some countries for entry. For instance, Indians and Chinese nationals who have visas issued by Australia, The United Kingdom, The United States, Canada, or a Schengen country with a validity of more than 6 months can stay in Peru without applying for a visa for the trip for up to 180 days.

All persons coming to Peru without visas are allowed into the country with the understanding that they will only engage in tourism, transit, or business trips that will not exceed 6 months. If they wish to stay much longer, they must apply for a long-term Peruvian visa at any foreign mission office.

    Peru e Visa

The Peruvian electronic visa is not open to all foreigners but only to selected visitors. Persons interested in applying for this visa online can do so with VisaHQ. To be sure that you are eligible for an online visa, you can check your eligibility on VisaHQ’s website or send an inquiry message. This visa is especially for transit, tourism, and business and is a single-entry travel document. Holders can stay in Peru for up to 183 days, and it becomes active the moment it is issued to the applicant.

To avail of an e-visa, you must fill out and submit an application form which will contain your details. E visas are approved after a few days but may sometimes take up to a week.

Key Information About Peru e Visa

In the previous paragraph, we reviewed each visa option in detail, but below, we want to throw more light on key information to remember as you apply for it and during your time in Peru.

Not For Special Passport Holders: If you are a government official in your country with a valid visa, you don’t need to apply for an e-visa or any visa, for that matter, unless you are Venezuelan. Diplomatic, service, or official passport holders automatically enjoy visa-free entry for 183 days. The only reason you may apply for this visa is if your stay in Peru will be long beyond the visa-free days allowed by the authorities.

Not For Employment: The electronic visa of Peru is not a work visa. Holders are not allowed to hold or seek employment in Peru without a work visa. If they wish to work in the country, they must visit any Peruvian foreign mission office to apply for a work visa.

Only For Eligible Visitors: We may have poured this out earlier, but it is important to reiterate the point. E visas are unavailable to everyone, only persons of selected nationalities and locations. If you are unsure of your eligibility, contact VisaHQ before submitting an application.

You Must Travel Through Approved Routes: Although there are numerous entry points into Peru, only a few are designated legal entry points. As you plan your itinerary, choose any of the approved routes listed under each visa type in the previous paragraphs. Legal entry routes are often the safest.

Use The Same Passport: Traveling with a different passport is prohibited; if you do, the immigration officers will assume you don’t have a visa. E visas are linked to the passports applicants use, and the immigration officers will check both documents to ensure they are valid and conform. Visitors who arrive with a different passport will not be allowed into Peru.

Print A Copy: Be advised to print out a copy of your e-visa once you receive it through your email. Once you arrive at the checkpoint, present it with your passport to the agent on duty. You may also carry it with you anytime you go out if you need to prove your legal status in the country.

No Extension Will Be Granted: Note that e-visas are only issued as single-entry documents and cannot be extended. You must exit the country and re-apply for a new e-visa or a long-stay consular visa if you wish to stay longer.

Application Fee: The Application fee is mandatory; without it, you can’t submit your application.

This non-refundable fee is paid online with a credit or debit card.
